Designed in partnership with four professional baristas and three World Barista Champions; James Hoffmann, Colin Harmon, Fritz Storm and Gwilym Davies.
The Mythos One maintains the sleek structure of the basic model while improving the ascetics and functionality of the machine. The hopper of the machine for example has been slimmed down to make it easier to access, while the front of the machine is exposed and illuminated by LEDs. A design choice which we believe not only improves the appearance of the machine but also allows the barista to visually check the hopper level while grinding.
Throughout our research in developing consistent grinders, one problem keep re-emerging.
The problem: espresso grinders take some time to warm up in the morning and they tend to run hot during peak periods in the day. A temperature variance, which would affect the coffee being ground and in turn the shots being pulled. Realizing this our team of designers and professional baristas set out to determine the ideal grinding temperature for espresso and the best way to maintain that temperature.
The Solution a thermal stability system, The Mythos One. Utilizing a heating element to warm the grinder in the morning and a cooling system to keep it cool during busy hours allowed our team to maintain the temperature between 35 to 45 degrees Celsius. An interval that we found to be the ideal temperature for grinding coffee.
The Result is a machine that requires substantially less adjustments throughout the day, improved espresso shot performance, and more consistent grinds.
